Heyo!

I’ve done my share of research on Reddit, YouTube and also on the internet in general, but I can’t find a concrete/homogeneous answer, I really really wanna play BG3 on the go (I’ve a ps5 and thinking to build a pc, but I wanna play it on the deck for some reason) and I’d like to know about real users experience and maybe someone who owns it and has tried it with the recent 3.5 update!

I’d be happy with 30/40fps stable through the entire game!

Thank you so much in advance :)

30 fps with a lot of dips. I guess 25fps should be pretty stable but it’s questionable if that is really how you want to play this amazing game. It’s fine on the go, but I wouldn’t want to play trough the whole game that way.

I’m hoping that the performance updates they are making for the Xbox version that’s coming out soon help the Deck as well. Sounds like they made some pretty significant memory improvements

They recently updated it and added FSR2 and it’s a game changer. You can play it at a mostly stable 30 now and it looks great. (Mind you, I haven’t played act 3 with it yet) I’d say it’s a pretty good experience but it was rough before FSR2.

Going by a video someone posted a couple nights ago, we’re looking more like 30 most of the time with dips into mid to high twenties in the actual city of Baldur’s Gate itself in act 3 nowadays, after Larian’s updates and SteamOS 3.5.

I lock it at 24fps and run most stuff on high or ultra and it’s great…stable, fun and honestly I get so lost in it I rarely notice the fps

Never say never, but even with recent performance patches, I don’t think “30-40FPS stable throughout the entire game” is in the cards.

“Mostly 30FPS in most areas before act 3” is probably viable now, especially if you don’t care about battery life.

In the last act (the city), I don’t think you can get stable 30FPS. Admittedly I usually run with severely capped TDP and a 20FPS cap for battery life, and I have only done limited experimentation with uncapped TDP + 30FPS cap, but from what I’ve seen, while my performance has improved over the last months, it hasn’t improved far enough to get 30FPS in the city consistently even if I’d want to run my battery into the ground and didn’t care about fan noise.

Good news is that the game is quite slow paced and therefore quite playable at 20FPS or 24FPS, and those you can hit pretty reliably almost everywhere now.
