There are so many convoluted and contradictory statements saying YouTube isn’t on the newest version of AppleTV or It is but very janky. So does the regular YouTube app work on the newest version of AppleTV and AppleTVOS with the YTPremium benefits??
I have the latest AppleTV 4K and watched YouTube last night. It worked great.
Same.
Enable stats for nerds on YouTube while watching a 4K video and confirm for yourself. YouTube all has always played 4K videos on the Apple TV 4K models
Not always. 4K support in YouTube was added in 2022 with tvOS 14, which added software-decoding for the VP9 codec YouTube uses.
My dogs and cats would be upset if YouTube didn’t work on the AppleTV. They love watching squirrels and birds through it.
Yes.
It’s been working fine on my AppleTV 4K
Any time apps get funky I delete them and reinstall them. That has always worked to correct things.
Yes. The YouTube app isn’t great, but that’s true across all platforms. You can play 4K videos with the YouTube app on Apple TV, including HDR I believe.
Yes. watching it now. Premium.
Well la dee da. Look at money bags over here.
i’ve never had a problem in all the years i’ve been watching youtube on an apple tv.
Agreed. Me too. I sometimes wonder why so many people seem to have problems. I’ve never had any issues with ATV and I’ve been buying it since it first came out.
Yes YouTube has an app on the newest Apple TV 4K. I know this because I use it and I use it with Premium
The amount of commercial time has increased significantly in YouTube on ATV this month.
YouTube’s video player doesn’t work as well with the Siri Remote as the ATV standard video player. It lacks precision when moving ahead or back in a video. Not a deal breaker. Just annoying at times.
The Recently Uploaded section doesn’t always appear under Home.
Stats for Nerds is a great feature where you can see detailed video and audio information like frame rate, codecs, connection speed, etc.) I wish all streaming app included this feature.
Youtube most certainly is (as is Alphabet’s cable TV service called Youtube TV). I use it regularly to watch basketball highlights. Can’t speak to premium benefits. I get ads, so I assume if you had premium you wouldn’t see ads.
it works just fine for me.
I’ve had several Apple TVs in the house for several years, I’ve always had YT, in fact I sub to Premium as well. While deleting and reinstalling an app can be the way to fix an app, I’ve rarely had to do that. I don’t recall ever having to do that for YT.
