Looking at the advantages, the 7800xt has:
-
10% lower price
-
4 more gigs of vram
-
6% better raster performance.
The 4070 has:
-
Better frame gen
-
Better upscaling via dlss
-
Better drivers
-
Better rt performance
-
CUDA for the few people that actually need it.
-
Better power efficiency.
-
The ability to use both dlss and fsr. If a game just has dlss, amd users are screwed.
All in all I think the AMD card is still the underdog based in advantages and needs to be at least 15% cheaper in order to sway buyers to team red. For just a $50 price difference, the team green advantages are too stacked imo.
Edit: this is of course in the US market. Every market is different.
The sales numbers are kinda irrelevant, when the market share gap is so big. It’s kinda common sense at this point, that the Nvidia counterpart would sell better and to that there’s more factors than whichever card actually has more features and better price to performance.
… like what? Lol
Sky daddy telling the general public to buy the more known brand.
In case you are still confused, let me explain - Nvidia knows how to advertise their products and their gimmicks better, let’s be real. This means more people, especially new customers will be convinced by the features they advertise with their cards, and that’s how they win their customerbase. Another factor is that AMD hasn’t had a very good track record with their previous cards and software, many people still hold their skepticism and posts about driver issues here and there don’t help it either. I could also mention the availability, there are parts in world where the availability for Nvidia cards is better, so in these cases the customer has no other choice but to go with Nvidia.
AMD has been selling scary well this generation compared to last, what are you even talking about.
Nvidia shill most likely.
