I’m very impressed with the difference as well. Text based games that used to suffer from small text are much easier to read and it’s nice to have a little bit more room because of the smaller bezels. Even rpg maker games are more fun to play because the colors pop and the screen panning are much easier on the eyes due to the faster display.
I also want to mention that I’m using the etched glass until I get my screen protector shipped and the experience is fantastic. I much prefer matte finishes on my displays and I have used them for most of my life, but the etched glass is on a different level. I don’t notice that “rainbow” effect that you see even on good matte coatings on computer monitors while still getting the benefit of that diffused light when there is a bright light source nearby. I don’t doubt that the glossy version has higher contrast as we have seen so far, but that doesn’t make the etched screen any less impressive. You still get much better contrast, faster response time, while not suffering from IPS glow, VA panel black crush/smearing, and TN’s lower capacity for colors and viewing angles. The only question you have to ask yourself is if you just simply hate matte finishes.
