I am hoping to use a rtx 4070 and I will use my pc for watching, having videos and stuff up while gaming, streaming + gaming and things like that with not too much delay. Which is the best choice? i am new to pc building

You can go the NVENC route for streaming using your 4070, that saves up tremendous amounts resources for the CPU.
I would go the i7 route, i9 only if you also edit a lot of videos.
Gaming performance is almost identical (<10%) between i7 and i9.

The performance differences in the current gen between the top end i7 vs i9 is not worth the cost difference.

If you absolutely NEED the performance, Intel got ya over a barrel and you gotta buy it, but if you don’t need it, don’t waste your time.

Generally speaking, in all cases, if you are asking the question “do I need this top of the line product”, the answer is no. If you actually needed it, you wouldn’t be asking the question. You would have the background information necessary to determine the answer. The use case for the top end is for enthusiasts with extreme needs and beginners who have money to waste. If younare asking the question, and you buy it, you fall under the latter categoey.

Just go to your local computer store and tell all your requirements to sales and take their recommendation. Also ask them to build and test the machine for you.

“i7 or i9” is not a question that can be reasonably answered. i7 and i9 are mere marketing terms, and therefore don’t actually mean anything.

Please do not ask “i7 or i9” as it’s quite the headache to those who understand hardware. If you speak of modern (12th-14th gen) hardware, you should probably get one of those i5 600K models.

The i7 will pair better with a 4070 but an i9 will pair better with newer and more powerful GPUs in a year or two. So I’d reccomend an i9 if you’ve got the budget for it. And if you’re thinking 14th gen CPUs, you can get a 13th gen 13900k for about the same price as a 14th gen i7 and there’s not much difference between the 13th and 14th gen CPUs as far as speed is concerned. I believe it’s about a 5% average gain on the 14th gen which is monimul for how much more it costs in the US. Good luck Mate!
