Hi everyone, finals are coming and my laptop’s battery suddenly got swollen which damages the laptop and makes it hard to close. I’m currently based in the States but will be returning back to my home country in December, so I’m thinking of just getting my laptop fixed when I return to my home country.

Here’s the thing: one of my classes has a final machine learning project that requires me to use my own laptop. because of this, I’m thinking of getting a new laptop AND returning it after I’m done with finals. Here are my questions:

  1. I have heard that the return policy here in the States is really good, but if you were in my shoes, would you do this?

  2. Any recommendations on places selling laptops with the best return policy? Best Buy?

Thank you!

During the holiday season, some companies extend the return period. You might luck out.

Swelling battery is dangerous. I wouldn’t recommend keeping it on you

See if your laptop will run while plugged in with the battery removed, what model laptop do you have/any pictured of the battery itself and its serial number? I’m sure you could find another on ebay. Best Buy has a 7 day return policy on electronics, unless you pay $50 for a 1 year membership, with one benefit being price reduction on sale products and a 60-day return policy.
