Question for mac users. I’m a pc user looking to get a MacBook for mobile music production. When the new chips come out is there any issues with the early models of it? Like bugs or other issues that Apple has to resolve in the next batch? Or is it rigorously tested before it’s sold to the market?
I ask because I feel like pc(not necessarily windows) but some pc parts themselves don’t work too well in conjunction with the rest of the system. It could simply be the processor, but that’s another discussion
there might sometimes be software issues with a very new version that tend to get hotfixed after a short amount of time. buy into a new gen a few weeks, maybe 2-3 months after it was released to be sure, read lots of reviews. generally though the M_ hardware and software has been really robust.
I don’t think so especially since the case and CPU aren’t brand new anymore. M3 is the third ish generation of their desktop cpus and I don’t think they’ll change the case for a while, I was only wary of the M1 as a first gen machine, but they’ve proven to be rock solid, too.

I got a m2 MacBook Air this year, I don’t think it could be much better so I don’t think I am missing out on much.

They will definitely introduce the M3 imho. Probably they will stop the production of M1 MacBook Air , and the M2 MacBookAir will replace it in that price range with the option to upgrade to M3. They will introduce a new MacBook pro 13" design with M3 , that will likely handle 2 screens, have 3 usb-c and a minimum of 12 giga of ram and 512 GB ssd… sorry I’m just daydreaming
Honestly, I wouldn’t even bother unless you absolutely need a new computer. I’m using an M2 Pro MacBook and I’m planning on keeping it for years. I’m going to get my money’s worth out of the thing.

You don’t know that for all we know m3 will come with a big increase in single core perf. But even if it doesn’t, m2 prices will drop next week compared to their prices today.
