Hi everyone, the title basically explains it all, but my phone carrier is having a promotion where I can upgrade to both these phones for the same price, so which should I go with? I know the one has the pen and better camera and everything but I just can’t decide.

Thank you all.

I’d personally choose S23U, I don’t really like the idea of the fold phones and how chunky they can be!

I do have the S23U, upgraded from S10e and I absolutely love it 😁

I really like the folding-concept and I think it’s the future, but it’s still too experimental for me. The S23U is a great phone all around with no real downside, I would take that.

are you going to take advantage of the big screen a lot? Will you multitask a lot? Maybe read a lot? If you wont do you mimd carryinf the extra thickness and weight?

    You should think about these

I own both, and its the Fold 5 hands down. S23U is an amazing phone, great camera and battery life. But its boring to me. Ive had almost every Note series type phone made, and once I switched to the Fold 3 a few years ago, ill never go back to slab phones.

You hear about people scared about the screen cracking, just get good protection from your carrier or Samsung when you buy it. Ive personally never had a single issue with any of the Folds. Most of the people that crack their screen just didnt take care of it.

You will also hear complaints about the front screen being small. For me, the front screen are just for quick tasks. Check a message or an email, make a phone call, do a quick search, etc. If im actually going to use my phone for entertainment, its opened to full screen all the time. And its amazing.

The camera on the Fold 5 might not be as awesome as the S23U, but for me its solid. Ive never had any issues for normal everyday use. Pictures look great.

But ultimately, it comes down to personal choices. Id recommend going to a store where you can get hands on both, and see which one feels right for you.

I’ve always wanted to try the Flips and specially the Folds. Based on your experience, would you recommend those phones to me if I want to keep them for 2 or more years?

I had the Flip 3 and Flip 4, and returned them both. They were really cool, but battery life and camera were subpar for me.

As I said in my post, ive had the Fold 3, 4, and now 5, and loved them all. Just go somewhere you can get your hands on one, and take it for a test drive.

I love my S23U and would love a Fold 5. But the front screen is too narrow for me (compared to Pixel and Oppo phones). The reliability is not quit there with screens. That’s fine, but I would not want to open it and there’s a cracked screen and Samsung says its damage. That’s the issue. Stuck with an expensive repair.

The S23U is fantastic. Checks all the boxes. I used it for work and dropped it many times, way too many, and no problems.

My s23 ultra is the worst phone I have ever had. If my cell service says 4G, then I cant even load a goofle webpage. Even with “5G”, speeds are awful.

I had the Fold 4 and then bought the S23 Ultra. I missed the top camera system, especially the 10x telephoto as photography is my hobby. I didn’t see the bigger screen as a huge advantage and the camera system was good but not amazing. I eventually traded in my Fold 4 for the Flip 5 so I now have a large phone and a small Android phone. The Fold is a great phone but I wasn’t using it to it’s full potential as I didn’t really need the large screen.

I love the 23u, but both being the same price I’d go for the fold, despite slightly weaker specs it ticks all boxes for average use plus the extra functionality with dual screen sounds v interesting

I wish i had money for both. I love my s22u. But im jealous of the fold users, that screen real estate is awesome. But my job is too dirty to bring one of those. Dirt, grease and metal shavings end up in my pocket all the time. One day ill have both and just swap sim card back and forth i guess. Or Alternatively, just get a tablet for home.
