Cautiously optomistic.

Good luck with that. There are deals all year long if you have a trade in. I got my S23U for $249 by trading in an S22U. That was last May. Different deals, some better than others.
My Pixel crapped out, then lost my iPhone, then got a Note 10.
I really liked look of it and loved it from the moment I had it. Then got the S22U, the bigger brother, so to speak, then the S23U. Have loved them all. It’s just a beautiful design. Very well-built.
I switched. No problem. I still have my 13PM, but I never use it.
Left the Mac, too, after decades. No problem.
I’m happier where I am now.
I have a 13 Pro Max and an S23U. I never turn on my 13 and I had iPhones since almost the beginning. I just prefer the launchers, the shape/size, features…
They are both good and both have their advantages.
I’d move on. Some really great S23U deals at Samsung’s site. People say wait, but the S24 is an unknown item as far as bugs, any issues, price.
There’s one Flip feature considered a gimmick but good for the right person: making a video then seeing yourself at the same time while you vlog away.
The battery is worse. I’ve tried everything and it drains too quickly.
The Ultra for reading and videos.
I’ve had zero problems with my Note10, S22U, or S23U. My S23U is fast compared to my 13 Pro Max which feels like it briefly has to think a second before doing something.
I’ve owned a dozen iPhones back to 3GS and the Ultra is excellent.
I love my S23U and would love a Fold 5. But the front screen is too narrow for me (compared to Pixel and Oppo phones). The reliability is not quit there with screens. That’s fine, but I would not want to open it and there’s a cracked screen and Samsung says its damage. That’s the issue. Stuck with an expensive repair.
The S23U is fantastic. Checks all the boxes. I used it for work and dropped it many times, way too many, and no problems.
S24U price could be higher, bugs for awhile, 5x zoom (purported), a modest improvement…S23U is a solid phone, no surprises, 10x zoom, good trade in values…

Honestly, most people are not going to notice or care. That doesn’t excuse it, but if you ask 9 out of 10 people with a phone, or more than that, they will be oblivious to most anything said technical.
Literally, the vast majority of people, when they buy a phone, make a decision based on the color of the phone.
Even when Apple does a rollout, the roll out a lot of bugs. I’m not anti-apple as I have an iPhone as well, but it ain’t roses on Apple’s side of things.
In my experience, iOS is buggy as hell, or has been, and OneUI…I have not, myself, notice any bugs. Just my world view.
It’s okay, but many will suggest a used flagship phone.
All good here, updated last week I believe. Maybe a reset of settings?
You can download Smartswitch software onto a computer if you want to transfer everything over.
Spigen Rugged Armor. Thin and very protective. I’ve dropped my phone dozens of times (use it all of the time at work) and zero problems. Used it on my previous phones as well. It’s good if you feel you are likely to drop it.
If you want very simple, then get the 13. If you want a phone that feels like it is yours, then get the S23.
I have the 13PM and an S23U. I don’t turn on my iPhone anymore. I feel like I’m using Apple’s phone. And I’ve owned a lot of iPhones.
I feel Samsung has better cameras.
