Noticed on my 14700k with strix z790-h the power limit 2 is set to over 4000 so basically uncapped should I manually set it to 253w or whatever the default is, by doing this will I lose much performance?
This will also apply to your 14700K.
Just limit the CPU to 125W, lose like 2-8% performance but save a lot of energy.

TPU may be considered a"more trustworthy" outlet
But that piece was almost certainly “inspired” by this guy’s benchmarking
will I lose much performance
you lose performance in benchmark/Rendering ,… but not much in gaming/regular tasks,…
anyways , using Liteload mode better than powerlimiting imo
I have my 14700K limited to 253W. Unless you bought your CPU only to run benchmarks 24/7 you won’t notice a difference in performance. It will use less power though which means less heat. When set to 253W my CPU will run at 5.5GHz in games on all cores so still a beast.
What motherboard do you have? And how did you set the PL to 253W? I have the same chip with a MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk Max Wifi and currently running stock, except XMP profile enabled and FanCurve setup.
Intel XTU requested Undervolt Protection disabled as-well.
Turning MCE off should set the stock power limits
