Hey everyone,

I’ve ordered a Steam Deck OLED limited edition, but it’s facing delays in Canada. I’m torn between keeping the Legion Go and the Steam Deck OLED or opting for the on-sale ROG Ally, which is $250 CAD cheaper. For reference on what I have been using before using the Legion Go, I have a gaming PC which is now five years old with an eighth-gen i7 and an RTX 2070.

I mainly play anime, RPGs, and story-driven games. The Legion Go has good performance, but it’s a bit heavy/uncomfortable at times, has annoying fans, mediocre speakers, and an okay battery life. The ROG Ally is lighter, more affordable, and potentially has better speakers and battery life, but may not perform as well.

Considering I have a capable gaming PC and care about battery life and screen quality, I also want to play AAA games at around 60 fps, like Spider-Man or God of War. What combo would you recommend? Legion Go + Steam Deck OLED or ROG Ally + Steam Deck OLED? Or for this matter, should I just keep the Steam Deck Oled and return the Legion Go considering I mainly play anime games and will only play triple A games on occasion?

Thanks!

After watching this 40 minute quick look at the Legion Go by The Phawx, I think the ROG Ally is the better companion “doesn’t easily work on Steam Deck” device. VRR, horizontal screen, better ergonomics, you’re probably never going to remove the joycons. But bear in mind 16GB of ram is not quite enough for ether device.

Sold my Steam Deck LCD to get the OLED, picked up the ROG Ally to help me wait.

I’m not saying this is what you should do, but if I were in your situation I would just go with OLED Deck and then Stream off PC with Moonlight.
