I remember how my mind was blown when I got a Gameboy Advance SP which had the backlight. It was revolutionary

Some how brings to mind Grandpa Simpson. I read it in his voice too. And he had an onion on his belt… which was the style at the time…

Yall remember the GameBoy Advance SP? The first models had awful spotlight front lighting (or none). The second model had an amazing screen that was bright as hell. Felt like a totally different system

I ordered the LE today. I’m seriously hoping I don’t get any dead pixels on mine. Lots of anxiety regarding that.

In the back seat of a car, I would play for a few seconds and pause for a few seconds at night.

Could only play when passing under a street light.

The only problem with wormlights was finding one that illuminated the whole screen instead of just spotlighting a few pixels of it. I had to return three or four of them before I got a good one.

      Highly relevant:

The first mobile gaming device that had a screen I thought was decent was the original PSP many years later.

What? The original GameBoy had an LCD screen, not LED. It emitted no light whatsoever. Have you even seen one before?

Haters gonna hate but I like the led shining through the case! I think it looks cool and extenuates the light. Not distracting at all. But I also grew up with a Gameboy, Game Gear, and a DS Lite with LEDs blasting in my face

Personally I like the effect of the LED through the shell, it’s neat and reminiscent of my old atomic purple GBC.
