Just got my LCD deck. I am surprised how loud the fans are blowing even when there are no games playing. Is this normal?

Sometimes I have to enter buildings via backdoor/employee entrances so that I don’t attract a mob. Once I’m recognized, the shrill of screaming teenagers is enough to chatter my teeth.

Dressing down and/or wearing baggy clothing helps. A few times I’d send a lookalike to another part of town just to throw them off.

I think at first the deck runs a lot toprocess so it can be normal for it to heat a little when doing these tasks, even if there are no games running. It should clam down after a while. My deck normally don’t use its fans that much when iddling, but if it happens to move some datas it can go wild as if running a AAA game. Give it some time.

Are you download and installing games? Believe it or not this can be a very CPU intensive task and your fans will ramp up while this is happening. It’s perfectly normal and will quieten down again once the updates are done.

I have one of the first LCD models to come out. It is pretty loud too even on the steam library. It seems some games are less demanding than having steam on the foreground.

I think valve improved more recent lcd models a bit and the oled model a lot more. I plan to keep my deck for a few years though, at least till they release a deck 2.
