My favourite micro-adjustment of the haptics is turning them off. I found the OLED thumbpad haptics to be too strong even on low. I didn’t mind it on the OG SD but on the OLED I had to turn them off.

Thanks for the detailed answer, that makes more sense! So it all comes down to the controller and how much padding it needs to make sure it has the right pixels in the right area of the screen. Depending on the speed/sensitivity of the controller, it determines how much extra padding or bandwidth is used to make the same picture. That makes sense on a CRT due to the physical limitation of an electron gun only being able to move so fast. I’m surprised that some modern day controller chips would need so much extra padding!

Since I don’t know a whole lot about timing signals, if the BOE is using less bandwidth, does it somehow have a lesser picture quality? If the quality is the same, why would the SDC panel require more bandwidth to display the exact same picture?

Starfield definitely had “a style” to it. Whether it was good or interesting is debatable but it definitely had a style to it that permeated the whole game. A shame they covered it up with god-awful, ugly ass insta filters. It looks like someone pissed on my screen so I’ve been referring to it as the “piss filter”. The game had the potential to look SO much better, and then they did… that… to it.

The one where you change your boot vids, alter the game covers, check out Decky mods, etc. It’s called “Tweak Your Deck”. Very chill game. Easily in the top three games I’ve played on mine.

The first thing I did when I moved my 1TB over from the OG SD to the OLED is make sure Cryoutils still had all its tweaks applied. It made a big difference on the OG and I can’t see it being detrimental on 3.5. I’ve seen people saying they think it’s not needed as much anymore, but stuff like OP saying it’s dead, well, it’s just clickbait unfortunately. I’m glad you chimed in, and I look forward to seeing more extensive testing.

I do notice the buttons feel nicer, but I wonder how much of that is because they improved them or if it’s just because the OLED buttons don’t have a year and a half of me mashing on them yet :P

I only have one game in my library that is tagged as HDR even tho I have a bunch of games that support it. So at the moment I find it rather useless lol. Hopefully more HDR games get tagged in the future, then this will be a LOT more useful!

Over 50,000 games are available on Steam in the US. I can’t even imagine the thinking that because someone buys a Steam Deck that Valve is going to give away a large portion of those 50,000 games for free.

Are you download and installing games? Believe it or not this can be a very CPU intensive task and your fans will ramp up while this is happening. It’s perfectly normal and will quieten down again once the updates are done.

No, it just made me able to enjoy games even more! Because now I can enjoy them when I’m out of the house too!

lol so true. I ordered my OG in July, got it in August the following year. Spending 7 months watching everyone enjoy theirs before I got mine was torture lol.

I keep forgetting the Deck even has gyro abilities lol. What do you guys use it for? I saw that some games would allow mouse aim, but jiggling my deck around like a madman doesn’t appeal to me. Are there other uses for it?

I was really impressed after I installed the update last night! Vibrant Deck helped but this is so much better. I only wish it had been like this from the start lol. I won’t even get to enjoy it for long before my OLED version comes in. Ah well, whoever gets my old one will get to enjoy it :P
