Just completed Firewatch and holy cannoli what a rollercoaster. I went into it blind besides always seeing its high praise and it did not disappoint. Completed in one sitting too, very easy to get absorbed into it for a few hours. Highly recommended.
My question is - are there any third person games that are similar to this? I want to run around the forest and explore mysteries but with a third person POV.
Valheim kind of scratches the itch as far as running around a forest goes but something that takes place in a little more modern times preferred, and something more focused on exploration rather than combat. I don’t mind combat but I’d like it to be somewhat minimal if possible, I’m also open survival if that helps any suggestions.
TIA :D
- The Long Dark
- I dig these sorts of games that people like to call walking simulator. - A few others I enjoyed: -
what remains of edith finch
-
life is strange (first one, I havent played the others yet)
-
oxenfree (similar in idea, but not 3d)

-
- The invincible!
- dude, i just started it last night. beginning is pretty messed up. kinda hard to proceed, but im gonna start day 2 and see how the rest of the game plays out. pretty emotional so far - Enjoy the ride, it tugs on all of your chords

- not third person, but The Long Dark matches other parts of your description - The Long Dark is another reason behind the post but I forgot to mention it, I started a play through but man that’s a little TOO survival for me at the moment, it really just throws you out there. I need to be in the right mood for that one haha

- The invincible is a sci-fi that’s in the same vein - I’ve been eyeballing it pretty hard the past few days but I’ve been hearing a lot of mixed reviews about it, I’ll definitely keep it in mind tho

- Forever sad that the studio behind it will likely never ship the next project they announced. Not that I blame them, mind you, getting to work on whatever Valve is working on is likely hard to resist.
- UNDER THE WAVES - ??? How have I not heard of this before?? Thank you!

- One more vote for What Remains of Edith Fintch. - Also: - Vanishing of Ethan Carter
- Delivery us the Moon
- Everybody gone to Rapture
- Call of the Sea
- Observation (this is a bit unconventional gameplay wise, but worths it)
- Soma
- Moons of Madness
- The forgotten City
 - All good on their own, but if you have to pick from the list above, you cannot go wrong with What Remains of Edith Fintch, Soma, Forgotten City
- I second “Gone Home”, “Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture” and “What Remains of Edith Finch”. But they are 1st pov.
- I played this game long ago on the Switch and I loved it.
