I just got my OLED deck and was excited to play some existing games in HDR, but it doesn’t seem like I can enable it in some games.

I’ve tried Star Wars Battlefront 2015, Battlefront 2, and Star Wars Squadrons, but none of them seem to show the option to enable HDR, even though all 3 games support it.

Does anyone know of a fix for any of those games or for similar EA/Frostbite games (maybe Battlefield or Dead Space remake?)?

Or does anyone know where I should report this bug? Is this a proton thing, SteamOS, or gamescope? Or game bugs that will never get fixed since these are all older games?

I don’t have an in depth answer but I wanted to let you know that Mass Effect Legendary Edition also does not properly support HDR on the Deck (the option in game is greyed out).

Interesting. I was thinking it was a frostbite bug, but Mass Effect was Unreal engine. So it must be something with EA’s HDR implementation.

Yes, check protondb. You need to add a file to the game’s folder to get it to work with steam deck, and then it works fine.

Though the HDR fix I mentioned in my other message only worked for Battlefront 2 and Squadrons, I still don’t have HDR in BF2015.

Protondb has the instructions for creating the file. It’s just a text file with a single line of code.

Squadrons, BF2015, and BF2 all run at 60 fps on steam deck. I don’t think they’ll run at 90fps on the OLED without reducing resolution too much.
