So hello. I found in my area lcd steam decks for about 250-300 euros used. Is it better to buy one of those or add 300 more a buy the oled version ? I mostly want it for Path of Exile, souls like games, mad max and batman games. Also some ps3 emulation (god of war for sure). Thanks

The OLED deck is nice, but the LCD version is perfectly capable. If you can get a used one in good working order with a decent amount of storage for half the price of the OLED version, I would probably get the LCD version.

But, the OLED does have a better screen, and faster RAM…

In the end, it’s your decision.

OLED is really good, you get a better screen, slightly better battery life and few other little things.

    However,

Having owned both LCD and OLED I wouldn’t say the OLED is worth an extra 300. If you can afford it absolutely do it, but if you are conscious of money then the LCD will do very well for you. The only difference between the two is the screen and a few minor changes, the raw power of the device is equal.

Used units don’t have warranty, I would compare refurbished vs new OLED, the difference goes down to 200 euro, people are saying that for newcomers the OLED is the way to go to have the full experience, in terms of gaming I believe you would benefit from the extra screen refresh rate and bump in performance/battery, specially in heavy games, you go from 1:30 to easily 2:30 run time with new model aside from the better blacks, that would make PoE, Soul series and Batman look much better since these are quite dark environment games

If you have the money than OLED otherwise if you want to spend as little as possible than the LCD version is still a great buy

LCD does everything OLED does but OLED does it bit better. To me the main upgrade is the battery life. You can have at most 2 hours of gaming with big-heavy games on LCD while OLED offers about %40 more battery life. Small indie games are much better. If you play with half brightness, reduced power and FPS settings you can easily get at least 5 hours of gameplay with some awasome games such as Brotato.

If you don’t care much about OLED display, (LCD still looks good btw) and you will play those big titles mostly while your device plugged, then LCD is more than enough. However if you want to take your Deck outside and use it away from plugs then OLED will give you more gaming time with a better screen. Besides those, OLED has some other small neat things going for it such as having slightly less noisy fans and giving slightly more FPS.

All in all if you don’t care about money much, OLED is good either way. The difference in price is not that big. However if you really care about money, LCD is still as awasome as ever.
