  • There are 2 main differences between OLED and LED version other than some minor differences such as slightly better performance, slightly more silent fans and a little better touchpad(as I hear- I might be wrong here)…etc. The big difference is of course the secreen. I am told it looks amazing. The LED one is good-looks pretty so don’t get me wrong but OLED is probably as good as it gets. Super eye pleasing. The other main difference is the battery. OLED one can run (I assume) about %40 longer then LED one. Don’t forget that those AAA games you want to play will drain battery fast so with LED one you will need to play plugged most of the time. The smaller games will not be an issue, you can play them for 5 hours non-stop with LED no problem as long as you limit your brightness, device power and framerate a bit.

LCD does everything OLED does but OLED does it bit better. To me the main upgrade is the battery life. You can have at most 2 hours of gaming with big-heavy games on LCD while OLED offers about %40 more battery life. Small indie games are much better. If you play with half brightness, reduced power and FPS settings you can easily get at least 5 hours of gameplay with some awasome games such as Brotato.

If you don’t care much about OLED display, (LCD still looks good btw) and you will play those big titles mostly while your device plugged, then LCD is more than enough. However if you want to take your Deck outside and use it away from plugs then OLED will give you more gaming time with a better screen. Besides those, OLED has some other small neat things going for it such as having slightly less noisy fans and giving slightly more FPS.

All in all if you don’t care about money much, OLED is good either way. The difference in price is not that big. However if you really care about money, LCD is still as awasome as ever.

  • Depends on the person of course. OLED SD looks amazing for someone who will use SD for mostly STEAM games. The support, QOL features and overall the device’s controller feel(touchpads and buttons etc.) much better while Rog Ally is stronger so can run more demanding games.

I personally think SD is better because I would prefer playing high demanding games on a desktop anyway. It just feels better and if there is indeed a good game, why not play it on desktop to enhance the experience?

There are many games that feel better to play on a handheld device so my aim is to play such games on my SD. Since Steam has a lot of games, I have been browsing a lot, bought a few and added a lot of games to my wishlist.

  • The OLED version looks like on fire, I wish I had it but it is not avaliable on my country and I already bought mine. I am 35 and while I have a PC, I don’t have time to play. I also bought BG3 and I think it is great but I can’t play it all due to being busy. SD plays BG3 decently well but let me say I won’t be playing much BG3 there. It just feels better to play on PC for me although I must admit SD has nice QOL settings for controller. However I recently bought Brotatos and it is so fun to play on a handheld device. Just sit on your couch and play all of these little-fun games that could be played well on controller. While you can surely connect a controller to pc, stream it on your tv and play on your couch, I think its much better to just grab SD, play those fast and fun games and get a lot of value for your time.
