Pretty wild that just a year ago Macs were considered an absolute joke when it comes to AAA gaming. Curious how this turns out as it slowly creeps up on Macs and IPhones.

This happens every few years. Apple pays a developer to port their game to Mac, Apple users proclaim ‘its the year of Mac gaming’, then Apple doesnt change it’s stance on API and no other developers follow.

Macs are still a joke for gaming. Apple has even lost Valve’s Mac support recently, so it’s not even trending in a positive direction.

I do have to say though, just the fact that I was able to comfortably complete a full playthrough of Baldur’s Gate III on my MacBook Pro amazes me. But yes for other games that aren’t native to Mac, it’s sad.

In that time Valve has orchestrated compatibility with over 7000 games on Linux… Valve sold the Steam Deck at break-even to subsidize growth in the gaming market, while Apple waits for developers and consumers alike to subsidize their stock buybacks. Macs have all the potential, none of the momentum.
