I was wondering what’s the best ram kit to get if you don’t plan on over clocking the ram for the Ryzen 9 7950x?
Thank you all for everyone’s input/advice it is much appreciated.
6400 or 6000 with sub cl35
You don’t want to do that.
Specify?
Because it would be 5200 since thats the max officially supported speed for it even though it can run higher ram speeds.
But I think you meant what’s the best ram kit where you dont have to overclock the ram. 6000 cl30 kits would be it. Would have to make sure you select the ram profile in bios though.
Technically people will say XMP is overclocking, but I also think that’s a bit ridiculous.
It’s around 6000 if you want to stay at 1:1 ratio. You can technically probably get maybe get a 7200 kit to run, but it’ll default to 2:1 infinity fabric ratio, which might make it worse than 6000 in some scenarios. The manual tuning you can get 6200 while staying 1:1. If you plan to just use the XMP/EXPO profile don’t get more than 6000 kit with low latency.
I believe it has generally been settled that 6000 cl30 is the best available.
Max Memory Speed
2x1R DDR5-5200
2x2R DDR5-5200
4x1R DDR5-3600
4x2R DDR5-3600
2x48GB of 5200 JEDEC
Check your motherboard for supported expo speeds. A “known” sweet spot is 6000mhz CL30, but some can do a bit higher just fine
Keep in mind that RAM speed is also dependent on the number of dimms used, so typically 4 dimms cant do 6000mhz as easily as 2 dimms do.
