Played through the original Ratchet and Clank trilogy on the deck. As a kid I always dreamed of taking those games on the go, even going as far as attempting my own PlayStation 2 portable (man that was a far more complex project than I was ready for lmao) and it was such a full circle moment. Those games are insanely hard to emulate as well, I’m still surprised at how well the deck could play them. Towards the end of Up Your Arsenal I had to switch to my desktop, it was just too demanding. But even with the fully upgraded Bouncer in Going Commando the frame drops were not unplayable by any means. Man I love the PlayStation 2
Agree except for virtual multitap. Was working one day, updated the emulator, broken the next day. This was around last December and it’s still fucked up. I wanna play multiplayer games with more than 2 people but can’t :(
Where the Burnout 3 crowd at? That game is an absolute masterpiece. Granted I emulate on a Linux PC (thank god for Steam Deck, it’s the reason why most games run now) but that OLED Steam Deck got me smitten, I swear though if they released the 1TB OLED with the clear shell I’d probably be eating ramen for the next month just to get it.
(Disclaimer,if you want to change setting go into desktop mode,If you want to play go in gaming mode)I’m guessing you are using emudeck and if you followed the tutorial from the video on the emudeck site (it’s the same mentioned in this thread) it’s really easy.bios files must be transferred to the appropriate bios folder. Unpacked . I’m using the same settings from the video, minus some tweaks ( internal resolution and a setting for using other textures). Also remember to place the copy of your games in the correct folder too( I’m using the USB transfer wizard found on emudeck main menu , it’s really easy).I SUGGEST YOU to use the USB transfer wizard because after you transfer the games he needs to parse them and download a cover if you want them to appear in your library in gaming mode (which I highly suggest since I didn’t find a way to make pcsx2 recognize the controller in desktop mode, in gaming mode is automatically configured)
My experience has been almost the opposite. I’ve got tons of games, and almost all of them experience significant slowdowns while playing. Every single Ace Combat runs like dogwater, or amazingly, but the inconsistency is terrible. Burnout runs great until there’s enough crashing going on.
Jak and Daxter runs decently enough, Wipeout hovers around 40-50 fps.
Please tell me what I’m doing wrong to get such terrible performance.
All I had to do for Ace Combat 4 and Zero was ensure that the emulator was up to date through emudeck and then install power tools (in the emudeck utilities menu) and disable SMT each time you start the games. Ace Combat 5 still has issues with clouds and lagging on some missions (which are supposedly fixable but I’m not sure how), but playing in anything other than third person helps a lot.
AC04 is one of my favorite games of all time, so I’ve been playing the hell out of it on the deck lately.
PS2 games, they run sooooo welll
Black on PS2 is the shit
Never beat out Timesplitters 2 for me
Curious how the “the” turns the comment to either a compliment or an insult
“The shit” is good
“The shits” is bad
English mother clucker, do you speak it?
Depends on who’s asking
Sorry for the slang. Black is a great game
I havent played this much PS2 Games since around 2006
Been playing a lot of Burnout 3, it makes me happy :)
Who wouldn’t play burnout. Thats one of the top tier games on the ps2

So many Great games on the PS2 compared to the PS3 but that is just my personal opinion
Dark Cloud 2 runs perfectly on Steam Deck and holds up VERY well in just about every department (looks, gameplay, etc)
I love Dark Cloud 1 and 2, can’t wait to replay them.
Champions of norrath 😫except I haven’t figured out multiplayer yet, it only psx2 only reads one controller for some reason.
well even if you do, even in the orc caves the game is unplayable zoomed out. CPU is way too weak for multiplayer

Except Beyond Good and Evil and MGS3. :(
I always preferred the GC version of BG&E anyway
What’s the diffrence? I’ve only played tge PC/HD version on the 360.
Back in those UBi cross platform days, the GC games had better graphics, colors, and framerates
Sound took a little hit but the smoother performance and sharper textures made it worthwhile
Prince is Persia is also much better on the GC
Play The PC version of GBE

Been playing Curse of Darkness and it’s still the best 3D Castlevania
