realise this is a hot topic, but considering making the switch from iphone 12 pro max to s23 ultra.

i’m pretty integrated in apple which concerns me, i have mac and ipad and use these regularly. one thing i use a lot is the notes app, and the copy and paste feature is seamless through all devices. is there anything that mimics either of these?

and second, keychain. i have no idea what half my passwords are - can these be integrated straight to a samsung phone?

because i can trade in my phone at £330 directly with samsung, i would be saving ~£600 for the phone which brings the cost down considerably to £600. but that does mean i lose my phone as a back up should i dislike it and then id be left to fork out more for a new iphone.

so realistically what are the pros and cons?! is it worth messing up my seamless ecosystem?

I mean go for it, would be cool to keep the iPhone tho just in case and because you have other Apple stuff. Typical Apple locking people down, I love to see you’re freeing yourself lol

yeah i wish i could but if i can trade it in for that much then its a decent deal. i just looked and apple take less than 200 for a s23 trade in. outrageous!

I was in the apple eco system and just switched to a S23+.

I never used my iPad so I gave it to the kids.

I have Apple TV’s in every room.

MacBook Pro i9 so it runs Windows and macOS.

Sold my watch and bought a Galaxy watch.

Google’s web messages works great if you use to use messages on your Mac then this is a fine replacement.

    Keep or OneNote for notes

Moved all my pictures to Google Photos.

After two weeks of using the Galaxy I had to do something on a client’s iPhone and almost threw it because I was already acclimated to Android and the iPhone was so frustrating.

You can only export the passwords from a Mac, then import them on the new phone. I would highly recommend switching to a platform agnostic password manager such as Bitwarden, that way if you switch back it’s not a huge burden.

Copy paste works between Samsung devices, but then you need to buy a Samsung tablet… you’d be trading one ecosystem for another.

Ask yourself “what am I going to gain by switching?” Make a list of the things you are gaining and like that’s on android, such as customization, split screen, etc.

Then make a list of all the things you are losing, like integration with your Mac, your notes app, FaceTime, iMessage, airdrop, Apple Watch (if you have one) etc.

Then compare the lists, is what you’re gaining outweigh what you’re losing?

Often times the grass isn’t greener on the other side. There are a ton of reasons to chose either, but what fits you best only you know.

Do not ever use Samsung phone. Google Samsung phone green line and you will quickly realise how crappy Samsung phones are.

I have had an iPhone for a long time but am switching to the s23 tomorrow. I used to have a MacBook and an ipad and an Apple Watch… but now I have a PC, a kindle, and a Garmin so I feel like it makes more sense to switch to an android phone. It’s also just way more economical. I did transfer all my photos to google photos though, which was an easy process. That was the stuff I was most concerned about “losing.”

I love it. The camera is so much better. The battery life is unreal. The settings make a lot more sense to me. It was very easy to switch. I’ve had it for 36 hours and am already fully acclimated. The one thing that I wish I would have done before turning my iPhone in was unregister my phone number from iMessage. You can do it without the phone, but it’s easier if you still have the phone. Once I figured out that’s why one of my group texts was all messed up, then I was golden. I had an iPhone for 10 years, and I don’t miss it.
