Ever since 3.5.5 came out, just in time for the autumn sale too, my Steam Deck has become a useless brick. Most games have just become unplayable, crashing within minutes. Only exceptions I’ve found are Dead Cells and Hollow Knight, WHICH STILL CRASH, just less so, and enough for me to get to a save point or something.

I expected this to be fixed pretty quickly. It’s been over a week. I still can’t play anything. What?? This happens on Stable, Beta AND Preview. How did this happen? How is it STILL happening?? I’m clearly not the only one this happens to since others are reporting this. Is there some sort of fix and/or will Valve…ever be fixing it?

Well, I´ve read on forums that some people do have this problem on 3.5.5/3.5.7 stable. However, it doesn´t look like it affects majority of deck owners. The only problem most people are experiencing is GPU being wonky and not able to adjust the clock speed correctly (causing stutters in some games). The games I played ,however, work just fine (I tested/played recently: Half Life, Days Gone and Deep rock galactic )

Shouldn’t you be in 3.5.7 ? If you are in latest version, may be try to run sd card (check/repair) option, if you use sd card. Also, make proton experimental as default and see if that fixes the issue.

That sucks. I would contact support about it, because this isn’t a widespread issue AFAIK.

Tbh i have read almost all of the threads in this subreddit for the past week and the amount of issues that 3.5.5 brought isnt small. A lot of people have similiar problems

I already had to get my Deck sent in for a screen replacement that ended up taking 2 months, so I’m not much inclined to do that again lol
