i have some roms downloaded to a hard drive which i’ve attempted to transfer to my steam deck, when i plug the hard drive into the deck it seems to fire up and begin to load (as reflected by the hard drives led) but then cuts out and no hard drive access appears on the deck? i have tried to look up on this sub and look on youtube but it only returns results for downloading steam games to hard drive not transferring files off it? am i missing something really simple lol?
If a mechanical drive, it probably needs to be powered. I use a dock for transferring stuff. I think the drive also needs to be formatted ExFat for Steam OS to read external drives.
