Hello Everyone, I’m highly considering getting a Steam Deck but I’ve never played PC games on Steam before and don’t know hardly anything about LinuxOS so I thought I’d ask for help. First as an exclusive MacOS user iMac can I with a Steam Deck play games on my Steam Deck that say Windows System Requirement (With Valve’s Linux System). I see games have all three compatibility(Windows,Mac and Steam) but some games only have windows that i really want to play. Which my second question is with those games does LinuxOS allow Steam Deck natively allow those too run or do I have to add Windows onto the Steam Deck? Again I’m new to Linux I don’t know lol. Lastly I’m struggling with which Deck to get, the current as of 11/26/23 the LCD or OLED anyone with either please tell me for longevity which is for price point and heavy gaming better? I don’t very much care about screens etc but I do care about battery and cpu as I go too doctors appointments a lot and want to game while on the go while waiting and such too keep me entertained. Please be kind and Thank you so Much.
I’m not a Linux expert so I cannot comment on game compatibility with SteamOS but what I can say is that Steam has a great return policy. You can refund a game if you have not played it for more than 2 hours. If you end up buying a game that does not work, or does not work well with the Steam Deck, just request for a refund.
As for which version to buy, I highly suggest you get the OLED one. Aside from the main upgrade – the screen, most reviews and user testimonials say that battery life is improved. I am an LCD Steam Deck user and is seriously thinking of upgrading because of the upgraded battery.
Thank you so very much for telling me about the return policy for games, nothing I’ve read watched or seen yet has said anything about that at all. I’ve been so leery for purchasing games that aren’t Steam and Mac compatibility just in case but now that you’ve said that I can breathe. This Autumn sale is enticing and I don’t want to miss it. I’m really thinking the OLED based on the YouTube videos I’m watching. Thank you again
