Purchased games (regardless of verification) or emulation through ROM dumps?

Asking if theres a difference between buying Assassins Creed 2 on Steam or dumping my disc game to Emudeck

    The general rule is that the native version will always be better if it’s available since it doesn’t have the emulation overhead and will usually have better access to things like mods. If the game’s PC port is super awful this rule isn’t necessarily true, but genuinely awful PC ports aren’t all that common.

      Thats what I figured. Ill give the emulation a shot first just to check, if not I’ll wait on a sale

    I had bought Assassin’s Creed 2 on Steam and it runs pretty well. Two things to note when buying through Steam for Steam Deck though.

    1. The controller layout for the game isn’t automatically configured. You’ll either need to configure it yourself or find a community layout that suits you.

    2. Assassin’s Creed 2 on Steam needs to run through the Ubisoft Connect Launcher. But, for some reason, the Steam Deck launches the game through Uplay, which was recently discontinued. I had to find some workaround to force it to launch through Ubisoft Connect instead.
