I am getting my Steam Deck today. Other than playing games directly on the Steam Deck, I am also planning on using it as a remote play device for both PS5 and Xbox X.

What are your thoughts and/or recommendations on that? Any tips? Maximize battery life while streaming?

Thanks!

Greenlight for the xbox. Chiaki4Deck for the PS5. I hear xbplay is okay too, but that’s a paid app.

Tips: General streaming stuff applies. Meaning ideally you want your host (ie xbox/ps5) connected to your router via an ethernet cord and your Deck on the 5ghz (or 6ghz if you have an OLED Deck and a wifi6E router) band of your wifi setup.

If you can’t plug the host machine in with ethernet, making sure it’s connected to the 5ghz band is very important. You can usually force this using whatever software your router has to manage connections if it’s not working. Streaming with 2.4ghz really isn’t much.

OLED decks are better for streaming due to the better wifi and the screen.
