So, I just got my OLED and there were a lot of recommendations to check out the game in HDR on the Steam Deck OLED in different threads. But, when I turn on HDR in Cyberpunk’s settings, the image is either totally desaturated and greyed out (HDR10 PQ) or extremely too bright and oversatured (scRGB). Tested both with 50% screen brightness and tried all calibration settings to no avail (setting max nits to 1000).

Am I doing something wrong (and which calibration settings are you using?) or have people recommended Cyberpunk for the OLED without actually trying it out first?

Isn’t the HDR implementation on Cyberpunk just bad? I remember trying it on my PC and couldn’t get it to look right. Ended up just using windows Auto HDR instead.

It is pretty bad. As recent as a month ago you still had to install reshade in order to get perfect blacks in that game with HDR enabled.

I changed my steam deck color profile to native/srgb, and am using the sRGB HDR setting in cyberpunk, looks good? Brightness at 80-100. But to be fair, its my first HDR game. Gotta try a benchmark HDR game like ori or something.

I don’t get what you mean with “setting it to native/srgb”. There is a slider between “sRGB” on the left side and “native” on the right side. And it says it only affects SDR content, not HDR.

Oh didnt realize that, nvm then, guess were seeing the same cyberpunk. Guess I just need a good HDR reference game! And was remembering wrong, had it on native, but guess those only apply to SDR content anyway.

But to my eye it looks so much better in terms of highlights. Like when the sun shines, its SO bright, but the rest of the screen is dark, its wild! But yeah, maybe colors and blacks could be better idk?

Do you have Steam or GOG version, i have GOG and have same issue like you, but found other thread where they claim the HDR is OK. This could be only proton issue maybe or something.

Other games like Lords of Fallen works fine with HDR.

Okay just came here looking for an answer and this might be it. HDR is totally broken on my CP2077 copy from GOG.

So that is probably the problem, that GOG version uses other proton or wine. I will try other versions of proto. If that helps. Do you have CP installed using GOG luncher or Lutris? I use Lutris, so i can switch proto version there.

Wow wtf I thought everyone always said there was no real difference between Steam and other versions? I also have GOG yea. And I used Heroic to install it.
