So for the black friday i ordered a brand new samsung s22 256gb but after researching on the intrernet a little bit i heard that the battery suck. I’m currently using a samsung A10 and i’m satisfied with the battery life i don’t know if the battery life is similar on the s22. Should return it ? and if yes what should i get to replace it ? Thanks a lot !

The S22 is a good phone in my books, this is coming from someone who has been using it for a while. Sure, it may get warm and you may need to top up the battery, but other than that you should be fine.

The battery will only last the whole day depending on how you use your phone. Streaming music in the background, doom scrolling, etc, will drain your battery.

If you could, get the S23 instead. But if the S22 is a good deal compared to a S23, you’ll be fine.

    To summarize-

    1. S22 was a “hot phone” due to issues with the Snap8 Gen1 power efficiency issues
    2. This translates into poor battery life and need to charge often
    3. S24 is about to launch in Jan24 (hot rumors) so you’d likely see good deals on S23 soon
    4. S22 will be 2years old platform in about a month. Expect software support to end earlier than S23
    5. If keeping the phone for longer is a priority (which everyone should do, slow innovation trap thanks Apple), go for 23 anyday

S22’s battery sucks to their 2023 standards.

If you’re coming from S10 it’s still way better and YOUR experience will be good.

Just want to state I switched from s10+ to S22+. The heat and battery is much worse on my S22+. It shocked me, probably a combination of snapdragon 8 gen 1 and 120hz compared to 60hz on the S10+.

Yes battery life is very poor on the s22 models. The chip is power hungry and it eats a lot of battery even with everything disabled. Samsung fixed the issue with s23 models.

I think the battery will depend on how you use it. I use my S22+ for social media and some youtube, and my SOT is 5 to 6 hours daily.

If you’re a heavy user then I would just return it to get the S23 instead.

So the thing is, the user experience is going to be very good for you regardless of whatever you choose, due to what you’re upgrading from. I’m also about to make a similar move and after getting a lot of opinions and watching a lot of reviews. You will be getting a flagship phone which has great performance. The few gripes will probably be because of the exynos chip over the snapdragon. Everything else is honestly pretty minute from what I’ve seen. If it is in your budget I think either the s23 fe or the base model of the s23 would be better for you. I’m thinking of dishing out the few extra and go for the base s23, since I’ll be using it for about 3-4 years so I’d rather go for longevity and quality right now.

Return it ASAP. I assumed you were getting snapdragon which is better but still sucks.

Buys phone then researches. Then asks internet to make life choices.

    I suggest an iPhone.

Why didn’t you research a little bit BEFORE ordering? The mediocre battery performance and tendency to overheat of the S22 series are well known since it launched back in the beginning of 2022…

OK, the phone is way better than an A10, but it is not the best high end model that you can find and that you will want to keep for years, like the S23 series.

I had a s22 for 4 weeks and it’s by far the worst Samsung flagship of all time. Even the Note 7 batteries were better.
