I’m still on a 10700k and skipped the whole Alderlake / Rapterlake / Raptorlake Refresh LGA 1700 platform. Just wondering how many Intel users out there also completely skipped the current platform and are waiting on what’s next in 2024.
I mostly just game at 4K 60fps and so far for the games I play my system is still holding up really well (paired with my rtx 3090). How about you guys?
Yeah I did skip some gens, got a 3rd gen i5 3570k geezer that has been holding back my 3060ti for 3y already, had a 660ti before that… well cant complain much as I play mostly story driven games and some non competitive fps and hes been holding his ground at 1080p 60fps even in stalkers gamma modpack.
heck im still on a 8700k oc’ed, upgrading would be epic but as far as gaming goes, i only really play lol, ow2 and the occassional singleplayer tomb raider - rig still does the job to this day
Only reason I upgraded from a 8700k was cause I wanted to get rid of frame drops in big teamfight in ow2 so I could stay above 240 at all times but other wise was still happy with it when I upgraded to a 13700k
My 5720K still works fine, atm om just trying to see how long until it gives up 😂
8086k meme cpu gang rise up!
I’m here brother
Brother! I’m still on the 8700. Stuck a 3080Ti in when my 1080 died of old age. Still runs everything I throw at it just fine. Even 4K games are perfectly playable. 60fps is enough. :)
I’m on the 8600k bandwagon and I was lucky I upgraded my 1060 6G version to a 3070 just before the price hike. Still rocking it till this day with nice 1440p graphics.
An 8700k at 5GHz is the virtually the same as a 10600k. The difference is so small you would never notice without acculturate benchmarks.
60fps is pretty pedestrian these days. Once you start gaming with higher framerates in mind, the newer cpus make a lot more sense.
On 9700k, waiting for 15th gen myself, so i can have upgrade options with 16th gen.
I’m on i7-4770k and I’m looking to upgrade next year.
Same! rocking on i7-4770k, i’m thinking upgrade when Windows 10 end of life.
I’m on 10th, 0 plans of upgrading anytime soon
On the contrary, I just recently upgraded to the 13900k. Upgraded from the Intel Core 2 Duo e4500, which I kept and used for a long time.
Ha now that’s an upgrade.
I applaud how long you stuck with a Core 2 Duo, but it begs me the question. What were you doing what required so little power to be able to use such a old chip, and. Why the massive jump to a 13900K?
Seems like they just enjoy buying once and crying once
10600k/3070. I play at 1440p and over the last year have had to start tuning things and making performance choices to get the framer rates I want. That said, games still look really good in the end, and there are only a small handful of games I’m not terribly interested in that just demand too much from my computer. So, yeah, I’m still waiting… We will see what I think of the landscape a year from now.
Lol what i skipped
I7 3770 --> I912900k DDR3 1600 --> DDR5 6400 GT630 --> GTX 1050 --> RTX 2080s (while waiting for release of 4090) --> 4090
The microcenter deals are very tempting, especially the 14700k. Anyone have a good estimate on how much a 9700k/motherboard/16g ram/850w psu/watercooler should be sold for? Around $600?
I’m on 9th and the lows and stutters are really getting to me. Depending on how life looks like next spring/summer I’ll get the 14700k. Might still wait for the 15th if things are dire
10850k here. The next gen will be noticeably more efficient. I’m waiting for it.
I’m still rocking my 4770k
Stuck on windows 10 for it though
I am typing this post on my 2500K, and that is still my “fastest” desktop PC. :o
I went from a 4690K to a 10600K. I’ll be waiting for a similar jump in time.
I also was on a GTX 970 and I’m still on a GTX 1070. As soon as there’s a date for GTA 6, I’ll be doing a whole system update ready for then.
