I’m still on a 10700k and skipped the whole Alderlake / Rapterlake / Raptorlake Refresh LGA 1700 platform. Just wondering how many Intel users out there also completely skipped the current platform and are waiting on what’s next in 2024.

I mostly just game at 4K 60fps and so far for the games I play my system is still holding up really well (paired with my rtx 3090). How about you guys?

As someone who had their GTX 1080 die during the pandemic and had to fork over waaay too much for a RTX 3080, I only recommend upgrading a i7 8700k type CPU now if you really NEED the performance. The next line of Intel CPUs should be a better upgrade.

I went with a 13th gen ugprade and I saw my performance double, but that was only for a few games I play. No meaningful change for the older ones.

I have a i5-13600k on the z790 chipset with DDR5 memory. Super happy with this upgrade as a relatively cheap interim solution. The cache and DRAM do a lot of work and the processor overclocks to 5.6 GHz easily.

I’m planning to get a 4070 or 4080 Super next year, because I need the RTX 3080 in another system.
