Hi, lovely people! I have around 600+ hours on BG3, so yes, I am definitely enjoying it a lot. However, I’m trying to think of what to play next. A few people have recommended Cyberpunk to me, so I did get that, and it runs well. Nooot sure how I like it just yet. Are there any other, like, RPG games, that have character customization, that also run well on the deck?

Thank you in advance! Apologies if this isn’t the right sub to post this on, I haven’t been on Reddit in a hot minute.

Pathfinder Wrath of the righteous is tagged as playable.

It’s like baldurs gate, but more complicated as an RPG system and not as reactive.

It WAS one the the best CRPG out there until BG3 took the world by storm. Still a personal favourite.

I played it a little in the deck, it ran well. It has controller support but I find it way better using the trackpads and mouse and customizing all the SD keys for more ease.

At high levels it will get a little hard to manage, cause all the abilities. It happens on PC with keyboard and mouse. So i guess it will happen with a trackpad emulating it.

With all that. Fantastic game, Fantastic RPG.

Also cyberpunk rocks, but is more like an FPS inmersive movie more than a reactive RPG

Pathfinder is definitely good. My friend who has played both BG3 and WOTR says that the latter is quite superior in story. I’ve just started and I’m getting used to the controller settings, but I may end up doing similar to what you did what you did so I can utilize the trackpads for better mouse movement and ability access.

For me WotR is the superior game in every way excep the visual presentation. BG3 can’t be beaten in this regard, but when it comes to the actual game, including story, options AND reactivity I see WotR in the lead.

I haven’t played that much BG3 yet. But for what I understand BG3 is more in the vein of a fallout 1 or Torment. Where decisions matter and creativity is not only possible but expected. That’s why i call it Reactive.

WotR is emulating an adventure path ( pathfinder pen and paper campaign) So it’s meant to be more linear and a lot more combat focused. But on the better side it has a ton of classes, archetypes, mythic powers and character build options. And cute purple dragon that likes cookies

Both are CRPGS but their focus is completely different

I personally enjoyed marvel midnight suns enough to play it again on steamdeck after beating it on ps5, JA3 is also good but saw you say you don’t like the small text on xcom and that’s def. A problem with JA3. Otherwise dragon age is kind of similar in theme although 2 kind of is just an action game. If you want some other games that have a similar gameplay design like BG3 but looks really different I’d recommend disco Elysium, the shadow run series and Steamworld Heist as good alternatives.

How far are you in Cyberpunk? For me the game only really clicked after the prologue and now it’s one of my favorite games ever.

Not far at all! I’m excited to hear it amps up because it feels very… like I’m having a hard time caring about the characters right now.

I haven’t tried it on the deck but Pillar of Eternity is pretty good and take inspiration from that genre. The whole Dragon Age series is also in that similar line of gameplay as well and i know those have been made to play well on console, so can’t see it wouldn’t run on deck other then the origin client problems.

You average about 5 hours a day playing BG3. I’d kill for that kinda free time lmao.

I don’t play much during the week since I work a 9-5. It’s mostly weekends. The perks of being an introvert with very little social life and little sleep (if you can call it a perk lol)

Does it run well on deck? I tried to get it working and couldn’t figure it out, apart from getting an external mouse/keyboard

IMO BG3 looks and plays like garbage on the Steam Deck, there is so much FSR processing involved that the game looks bad in many areas. Not to mention the controls are horrendous coming from a keyboard and mouse.

Personally, I’d play Dragon Age: Origins :)
