I got me the iPhone Pro Max over a month ago and just wanted to know if it about as powerful in gaming compared to the SteamDeck

Nah even 15 Pro isn’t anywhere as powerful as steam deck. Resident evil village runs miles better on steam deck than it does on iPhone 15 pro / pro max.

No, it’s because of raw performance. The Steam Deck APU objectively has more raw performance than an iPhone.

In benchmarks, the IPhone 14 Pro scores higher than a Steam Deck. Needless to say that yes, an iPhone 15 Pro also offers higher performance.

Now utilising that performance in games is another matter entirely. So the deck still wins in real world gaming loads in the few titles you can compare between the two.

See the link for a short comparison by Digital Foundry in Resident Evil 8: https://youtu.be/lseDQie5oRU?si=PX6D4xi8jQlGpZml

Iphones have one huge problem: cooling. They have really powerful SoCs but they overheat almost instantly, and have to throttle performance. Its almost as if they build them just for benchmarks

no, they’ve built them for quick bursts of performance (ie. you take a picture and and whole computational magic happens, but since it quick, it doesn’t affect thermals)

deck has been built for sustained performance

The Steamdeck is much more powerful even more powerful then the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Its a cooled system that runs desktop games with overhead due to the translation layer with pretty good performance. It may be not the most efficient system but runs.
