100% get the rog ally z1, for the things you want to do not only will you get better performance but it will be easier. Less hoops to jump through to install the launchers you will want.

The steamdeck is barely an option if ur looking to play game pass and fortnight. Ally plays those no problem tho.

Steamdeck oled if you want a better battery and a great screen asus rog ally z1 also have a very good screen for LCD but much more power to play games on higher resolution + higher preset but the battery life is a lot worse you will need to be next to a power outlet all the time if you want to play demanding games.

If you want native gamepass games without remote connection the choice is easy go with Asus

Steamdeck only can go to 15 w tdp asus rog ally can go to 30 w tdp this is why the power increase.

The Steam Deck uses a 15W TDP APU. The Z1 Extreme is a 30W APU. More watts means more performance, so it’s not like there’s anything particularly special about the silicon in something like the Ally. It’s actually a laptop chip in there. It’s intended for a device with a much bigger battery. If you constrain it to the same 15W as the Steam Deck, performance is virtually identical. The Deck OLED, actually pulls ahead in some cases, and still is more efficient.

As such, it really boils down to a battery life issue. If you care about long battery life, the Deck is the only answer. If you’re fine always being tethered to a wall outlet or plan to use it mostly docked, then yeah, you can kick the Z1 Extreme up and go to town, just don’t expect it to last even an hour on battery like that.

I think you’re confusing z1 with z1 extreme. From what I’ve read z1 performance is very similar to the deck’s so the main argument for the ally would be easier game compatibility (for fortnite/gamepass in this case)
