Just do what Qualcomm and media tek did, more performance cores and clock them lower, prebably even more efficient that way, just like a 2.0t and 1.5t cars, a bigger displacement will be more efficient than the smaller power engine because it doesent need that much load, and the larger engine is capable of more performance
When M3 was released, Apple had refurbished M2 Max 14” MacBooks for ~$2000. Disappeared quite quickly

So basically the apps haven’t been updated to take full advantage of the E cores. Pretty much a non story
I hope when the M3 minis come out, I’ll be able to find comparisons to the 10 year old intel imac I’m looking to replace.
