My dad bought me a S1 FE but its 2023. My phone will recieve updates until next year but is it fine to last the next four years with no security or software updates?

it’s not a big deal, security updates are exaggerated lol. When was the last time you noticed that your “security” updates saved you from a potential “attack” lol. Dont let anybody fool you into thinking they’re a big deal

You don’t notice it because the attack didn’t happen because of the said update

Did you manage to update my Android 10 phone with you lips or finger tips?

I read 2028 and was like 8 years is a long time for a phone to last, then realized that 2028 is just 5 years from now. Also it depends on how long you get security updates.

Galaxy S21 FE will receive updates for 4 more years officially, i.e till 2027, so technically there is no harm in using till 2028.

There will come a time when some of your apps can’t be updated because they will require a newer version of the operating system. That is the situation with my Tab S2. It is on Android 6 and some updated apps are no longer compatible with that. If they are apps that are critical for you, you will need to get a new(er) phone.

It’s gonna be less about the software/OS updates and more about what your daily usage is. If you regularly use it for anything beyond calls and texting (say watching videos, taking photos, or gamjng), then eventually your battery drain will get to the point where you’ll have to charge it more than once a day at which point you have to decide if you want to learn how to replace the battery yourself or if it’s time for a new device.

Most likey it won’t be able to connect to any cellular network. Also you don’t want to go without security updates for that long.

You’re more likely to have to worry about the battery/processor craping out on you, or have some kind of internal issues, rather then the phone not getting updates.

Google play store will continue to provide you with security updates although fatal vulnerabilities that may raise in the future might or might not be patched most of the times OEMs just send a one time update to fix it at least I have heard apple do so for older devices but idk Samsung as I haven’t had flagships Samsung phones till recently.

Even if you don’t get any updates from now, your phone will work for the next 3 years assuming android doesn’t do anything odd. Hundreds of millions of indian/chinese users have few year old phones without any updates, and I’m sure google will NOT do anything to outcast them.

    The update issue is overblown.
