Is 8 gigs of ram really that bad? Priced at $2099 CAD. I want to get it but I’ve come across a crap ton of threads saying 8 gigs of ram for a “pro model” is not enough. I’m a light user, will only use it for university, no coding, no video editing, just general use. But then again we go back to the whole situation, is 8 gigs really not enough for this workload? The main selling point for me is the better display over the 15” Air which I was also thinking about and the thing is, they offer 8 gigs of ram for that one too… Which one should I pick? (Coming from a windows user)

If you’re just doing general use, you really don’t need a Pro. The new 14" base model MacBook Pro is probably the worst value for money. There’s no reason that any laptop costing over $2000 CAD should come with 8 gigs of ram.

If you’re a light user, get the Air. There’s a reason Apple compared the M3 to the M1 in their keynote, that’s bc it’s not a really big improvement over the M2. You’ll be saving $600 if you go with the M2 Air.
