I will be traveling for work more now so I am looking to get a steam deck for on the go. I was looking to save some money and pick up a used one or a refurbished one. People are posting them for more then what they cost new on fb market place and they aren’t going that much cheaper on eBay. So why are people selling/ buying for this. I know what they are posted for does not mean they sold for that much but a few add have been taken down so presumably they sold. Am I missing something or are people not willing to wait 2 weeks to get one. I am in Canada if that matters.
Priced to sell to someone who doesn’t know better. Just checked listings close to me on FB, first one is a guy asking 1100 cad. I’d say he upgraded a 512, but you could get the same end result by upgrading a 64gb and end up around the price of a stock 512.
Supply and demand and scalping
I paid $450 for my 512GB model on eBay. That’s significantly cheaper than new/refurbed from Valve.
Dunno how it’s for you. Paid 270€ for a used SD and upgraded to an 1tb ssd. Total was around 350€ for a console in mint condition.
Scalpers basically. They probably do go on sale for cheaper on places like ebay sometimes but they will quickly be bought up to be resold at a higher price.
I would just buy a new one if you can’t find a used one for like half the price. I would just buy new anyways so you have the warranty and there isnt any wear to the device. There is no way to really know how well its been taken care of.
Scalpers, scammers, and the general used marketplace trend of overvaluing . This is an item worth buying new.
