That’s just wrong, lol. It was always “no major performance upgrade”, not “no battery, fan and screen upgrade”. The nee APU and faster RAM do basically nothing special other than pulling less power.

It’s not a crazy amount but there’s quite a lot of games if not most getting an extra 5% performance while getting the benefits of the battery and screen

Imagine paying £700 for a Rog Ally, only for Steam Deck OLED to come out at £469 with the same sized NVME, but with an OLED screen, superior battery life and basically the same performance. Not to mention SteamOS is amazing, while Windows Handheld is just awful.

The Steam Deck OLED just slapped the Ally so casually, that its actually embarassing.

They never said that. They said there wouldn’t be a new model with different performance. I suppose you could argue this has improved performance since it’s apparently up to 5% faster but I really don’t think that counts.

They never said there wouldn’t be a refresh with a new screen or different storage capacities, indeed an OLED version was something many of us expected.

I’d quite like to see themed models like Nintendo do too, although none of Valve’s IP is as pretty as Nintendos (the Animal Crossing and Pokemon Switches were sooooo nice).

Be mindful that they’ll probably be bloody hard to get hold of to begin with, unless they’ve massively sorted supply out since they first released the OG deck

Steam will allow the return of Steam Hardware from within the past 14 days.

    So return the deck.

The 2TB SSD will work fine in the Steam Deck OLED, so keep that.

I just bought my SD a month ago so I messaged Steam’s support asking if they could refund me the difference, since the one I bought dropped in price. Who knows if they’ll do it but it’s worth a shot. If they don’t do it, no big deal lol sometimes we win, sometimes we don’t

Why can’t you just return it? Lol. Did you paint it pink? Cut the back shell out and added a huge heat sink like Linus did?

Every computer is obsolete and overpriced as soon as you buy it. Grow up and deal with it.
