This is giving me flashbacks to the much better rumored Switch Pro and when the announcement for that new Switch came, all we got was an OLED display, thinner bezels (sound familiar?) and twice the internal storage. I have both Switches, and let me tell you, side by side LCD and OLED it wasn’t worth shelling out $350, and the new Deck is worth almost double the price so. It does kinda suck for those who maybe bought it recently, but no one could’ve seen it coming, it was rumored but never confirmed, it wasn’t even leaked and Valve repeatedly stated they wouldn’t make a new Deck anytime soon. If you are able to return it and grab the new OLED Deck instead (if you’re in the US or Canada that is) it’s your money at the end of the day so I can’t tell you how to spend it, but I’m more than satisfied with my Deck and I’ll happily wait for the Deck 2 whenever that arrives.

They came out with this revision way too quickly, the entire sub is either huffing copium or planning on buying an oled deck

It’s not “huffing copium” to be happy with the deck I have. And those that are whining about the oled model now and purchase it anyway will just come whine about not having had the oled model for 14 years before valve releases the steam deck 2, despite knowing it is planned for 2025/26

Way too quickly? It was like a year and a half after release, and this is obviously not a major upgrade like a “steam deck 2” would be.

So, how long is appropriate between launches for a mid-generation revision, in your opinion?
