Well, something bad happened today. My kid spilled a huge glass of water onto my Steam Deck.

While it was in sleep mode. Picked it up and water was literally dripoing out of it. Left speaker started squealing. Screen was still working and a game was still running. I shut it down completely as fast as I could and stuck the whole thing in a massive bag of rice.

How long should I let it sit in there for before trying to boot it up again?

Honestly gutted right now.

I have to admit, even though the whole situation sucks, the timing of it was pretty good lol.

I’ve decided I’m going to order a new OLED model and send mine in to see if it can be repaired for under $200. If I can, my son will inherit it. If it can’t be fixed, it will be permanently docked to the living room TV and hooked up to a Bluetooth controller.

I don’t use the screen (play exclusively on XR glasses) and I almost always play plugged in so the new features will pretty much be lost on me.

      My first though lol.

Really though, it’s my fault for storing my Deck under the bed and not in it’s case. Lesson learned!
