I am considering buying the oled version of the steam deck as it interested me a lot and have never owned a steam deck before. But I have a Nintendo switch at the moment with backlog of games I been wanting to finish. Should I just buy the steam deck OLED on release day before it sells out or do you guys thinks it’s okay to wait a few months and they’ll still have them in stock?

i wouldn’t be surprised if they did in the short-term, but only for the initial launch. won’t be like the original launch where some waited a year for theirs
Valve says that they don’t “anticipate” selling out, but who can really say? As an anti-scalper measure each account can only get 1 OLED deck/week, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the other anti-scalper measures like the “must be an account that purchased at least one thing before they sell you a Deck” remained in place.
The limited edition is probably gonna disappear in seconds. The other two? I imagine they’ll remain in stock.

The new Steam Deck OLED ships November 16th, and there shouldn’t be a multi-month wait this time around. Valve says they’re in mass production. “We have them; they’re piling up in the warehouse now.”
