I don’t tend to play any 30fps games on my Oled tv because of the additional stuttering compared to LCD screens. Is it likely that the additional 30fps stutter will be the same on the Oled Deck screen? Or could it be less noticeable on its smaller handheld screen? I tried to see if the Oled Switch screen has this issue but couldn’t find much info. Thanks

The OLED will keep the screen refresh rate at 90Hz for 30fps content, so each frame will be refreshed 3 times before moving to the next frame.

I’m dont fully understand how fps and hz affect each other. Does 30fps at 90hz mean it should stutter less than 30fps at 60hz like the Switch Oled screen has? My assumption is yes as its refreshing the image more? If so maybe that will appear less stuttery

im guessing it will have very slightly more stutter, and my experience on oled switch vs switch lite is yeah it’s there if youre looking for it, but games are often immersive enough that it doesnt make much of a difference

Yes. OLED switches pixels muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch faster then LCD does.

This means you get smearing on LCD that “smoothes out” some of the 30fps stutter.

The OLED will show you how the game ACTUALLY runs and is rendered. Its more true to what is supposed to be on screen. But with 30fps - its more stuttery - yes.
