If (like me) you bought a steam deck right before the announcement of the OLED version and the price drop for the original, you can contact steam support, tell them that if you knew about the coming price drop you would have waited, and request a refund for the price difference.

I paid £369 for a refurbed 256gb steam deck, then they lowered the price to £279, and I just got £90 refunded to my steam wallet this morning after contacting them yesterday.

Trying to get a refund too, order a month ago, but the screen died after 3hrs of use, so i asked for a refund and they said they’d send me a new one. Waited 2 weeks for the new one then the new models were announced. So I opened a ticket to ask to return it and they said they are investigating.

It’s been a week, and i replied twice asking for an update and no response. Opened a refund request and they closed it immediately saying it was a duplicate as the first one is “being investigated”. Hope they aren’t going to try and ride it out till it auto closes.

I paid 540€ for a refurbished 512GB model and it arrived about 10 days ago. I already opened a ticket but they still didn’t respond.

I put in a support ticket at 1am last night, still to hear back. I only received my 256 refurb yesterday afternoon too.

I’m more than happy with the unit, just annoyed that it’s cheaper to buy a new unit this week let alone the £90 price drop in the refurb.

I think since you opened the support ticket within the return window, they’ll respect it, even if it takes a while for them to get in touch. I remember reading that somewhere in valve’s ToS

They’re surely absolutely flooded with these requests right now, I wouldn’t expect anything outside of the return window but if you are in the return window, it only makes sense to refund you instead of the overhead of returning and reshipping.

I got a refurb 512 deck the week before, opened it 2 days before the announcement. FML

I have just asked them if they would let me return it so I could purchase a new one.

I will let you know what happens

Ordered mine beginning of Oct, got it halfway through Oct. Created a ticket and got a flat no which I expected. Going to respond a few times and atleast make it not so easy on them, feel its a little dirty not disclosing a new model is literally a month and a half away so I have no shame especially since over the decades I’ve spent thousands with them.
