Technical answer - buy old games from a hobby shop, buy specialist equipment to read them on your computer, and make your own copies. Perfectly legal. (ok for PS1 and PS2 you just need a DVD drive)
It feels wrong because historically, sleeping a computer during gaming was pretty likely to cause the game to freeze (or tabbing out, or doing just about anything).
Luckily it’s mostly a solved problem nowadays, I sleep during games all the time. Only game that ever gave me trouble sometimes was Assassins Creed 2 installed through Ubisoft Connect added to Steam, if I let it sleep too long it would have some kind of disconnect from Ubisoft and force close the game (even though actually playing offline was fine).
Emudeck is just a convenient installer, you have to look at the actual emulators it runs for individual games. For PS3 there is basically only one option which is RPCS3. This is also what Emudeck installs for you.
If you mean a USB flash drive, you can do it, it won’t work super well. If you just need Windows do do a specific thing occasionally it will get the job done.
Well there’s a hard cutoff around 2003 so we’ll probably be comparing individual days here. I guess I switched accounts at some point as my first purchases are from 2009 but I definitely played Half-Life 2 before that.
There are a lot of ways you can do this, you can also do it with any laptop/tablet or even technically your phone although that would probably be a bad time.
Syncing your cloud save is the biggest usage I can think of. There will be constant tiny amounts of data to load things like your friends list or game patch notes. Just keep it offline if you don’t want to use data.
Depends, some games will not work unless you put on a coding hat and go fix WINE yourself. But some games work fine or just with some minor tweaks. Just gotta check each game.
It will run. But it won’t be any better than any random AMD laptop. Wouldn’t recommend it as a primary use case.

Emudeck is great for picking out emulators that work well and setting them all up. You still need to source your own games. I wouldn’t trust buying a preloaded SD card, it’s probably the cheapest card imaginable and full of crap you don’t want.
The reason there isn’t a megathread is it’s pretty much the same as a Linux PC, Emudeck helps you install but all of the apps are standard Linux apps.
But remember, emulation is just a means to an end. What do you actually want to play? Grab some games you like and go, no need to worry about having 50,000 more in the backlog…
Slight benefit in memory since game mode doesn’t have to load the desktop environment. Game mode also scales up older games to full screen very well. That’s all I can think of. Desktop mode lets you multitask much more easily.

I just don’t use them at all. In my entire life I’ve broken one screen, and it was a slight crack that you had to catch the right angle to even notice.
They’re surely absolutely flooded with these requests right now, I wouldn’t expect anything outside of the return window but if you are in the return window, it only makes sense to refund you instead of the overhead of returning and reshipping.
Just so you know for future reference, fan bearings go bad sometimes and it’s usually pretty easy to replace it. In my case it actually happened to my Steam Deck.

There’s no wrong answer here. The OLED is nice but you pay more for it. The 64 GB “clearance” deal looks really good.
