I know this is a highly subjective topic, as well as one that probably gets asked a lot. But, it’s been on my mind for a long time, and with the new OLED version announced it’s back to the forefront.

I don’t play a huge amount of games these days, but part of that is because it feels like such a hassle to get on my computer and sit there for hours on end. Spending time with my partner is more important, but I imagine being able to sit next to her and still game, even with her, would be a good middle ground.

Is a steamdeck worth it? 400, or 550 bucks more likely if I can get an OLED, is that worth it to those who have it? Are there many, or any, who got a steamdeck and DON’T find themselves using it? It sounds like most that got it end up using it quite a bit, but I’m not sure if I’m as big of a gamer as those that would.

It does seem like it would be good to have all my stuff in one place, i.e. everything on Steam and emulators as well, but for 550 bucks is convenience like that worth it? As far as steam games go, it seems like a lot of games are ported onto steam with varying levels of accuracy/overall success. Not being able to play every game in my library is a big detraction. I know this is ultimately a question that is different for everyone, I’m just curious on opinions.

You aren’t going to get unbiased opinions here, but yes.

I often play my steam deck on the couch next to my fiance while she hogs the TV.
