I’m enjoying playing it on game pass and streaming it to the deck, but I wouldn’t buy it. Doubt I’ll even buy another month of game pass to finish the game if it cuts me off early.

Proton db has a more complete list of what runs and what doesn’t, as well as what tweaks they may need.
Compatibility is going to be way better than a Mac though. You could always hook up a mouse and keyboard if you want to use it like a regular computer too.
It’s unavoidable with glossy plastic.
Did you try launching the game in desktop mode?
Phone, or desktop. Mostly phone. I just prefer the mobile app to anything else.
I’d start by using chiaki to stream the ps5, that’s a lot of games you can now play portably without paying anything
You can put mocro sd cards in it, but 256gb won’t be enough to never worry about storage again. 512 GB or 1tb may be a better choice. 256 is fine if you already have it.
Yes, you can either stream over steam if you add non steam games to your steam launcher on desktop or you can set up sunshine/moonlight and stream the whole PC. I like the sunshine/moonlight combo myself.
For steam games, you can buy from anywhere that resells steam keys, such as humble bundle or green man gaming. You can also add other store fronts such as epic games and Ubisoft connect.
Steam deck really is the best bang for buck. There are a couple cheaper options, but they are less supported and have weaker hardware.
While there are some free games available on steam (just like any console’s store page) the majority of them still cost money.
You will get one free game with your steam deck, and that’s apature desk job. It’s basically a tech demo.
I think you’re probably in the minority.
Aim for 40-45 FPS, that’s the sweet spot.
Logitech has a combo keyboard and mouse set that I got at Sam’s club for like $25 around 5 years back. It’s nice because they are both on one dongle. They still cell it, but it’s $33 now.
While we’re talking about anecdotes, I knocked mine off the kitchen table onto the linoleum without a case, and the only damage was a small scuff mark.
Try out steam OS before you switch to Windows. Steam OS really is a better fit for the device, and it doesn’t sound like any of the games your are interested in require windows.
Only limited edition is the transparent black model, all others models will be stocked for a while.
I don’t use screen protectors on devices with tempered glass screens. My switch has one though, just an cheapo Amazon one.
Only when laying down. I have to sit up and rest it on my lap.
They are emulating them with a program called yuzu. It is for emulating roms of switch games you already own and didn’t acquire through illegal means. That would be very bad and no one here does that…
Yes mods work, but they are more difficult to get running. I haven’t tried them myself.
Any Bluetooth controller should work. Lots of people have used PlayStation. I’ve used an 8bitdo, Nintendo switch, Xbox, and Google stadia.
3.64gb one is really intended to just hold the operating system and some compiled shaders. They expect you to buy an SD card to store your games on that model. Games take the same space if not a tiny bit more on steam OS to hold the extra shaders.
You could always add the game as a non steam game so that steam will adapt the controls.
Honestly, I will almost always take streaming over native gaming if it’s an option. Trying to play AAA games on the deck is always a compromised experience, but steaming usually gets a better image and frame rate.
For stuff the deck can handle, I’ll still play locally though.
