Hello, I need your advice to choose between these 2 laptops, either a 13" M2 MacBook Air with 24GB RAM and 1TB SSD or a 15" M2 MacBook Air with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD. Note that the laptop will be used most of the time with external 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display, so the screen size is not a deal-breaker choice. The laptop will be used for productivity, web and social media design (Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, Adobe Express, and productivity tools). Thanks

I love carrying my MBA 13” with one hand. I was gonna go for the 15” but I’m glad I got the 13”. I use it for work and while I travel it definitely makes a huge difference. I think it goes down to personal preference

Yep, no doubt if there is a new MacBook Air these older models will drop the price fast.

Not sure why you are being downvoted, you are right. They aren’t gonna release a 15” and then just abandon it right away. Rumors are for the MacBook Pro and the iMac. No new MacBook airs people, do your research.

While this is true, new MBPs will naturally cause some people to perpetually upgrade.

This means a glut of used machines inbound, which will deflate the market, and cause Apple to put incentives on other older machines. Like MacBook Air.

Waiting 30 days for Black Friday could mean really good deals in this scenario.

Think we might get a redesigned MBP to fit alongside the Air? Not the MBP with the Pro/Max chips but specifically the one that fits right next to the MBA with the Touch Bar and outdated design.

I have heard that that is a possibility, although I wouldn’t count on it. From an article on Mac rumors, they said a new model number or something was leaked that could be referencing a redesigned base MacBook Pro to replace the dated touchbar one. Another possibility I’ve heard is of a sub $1K MacBook that isn’t a pro obviously but something meant to cost less than the Air while still getting a new MacBook into peoples hands although I doubt it will be ready for this event or even ready for next years event, but we won’t know till it happens.

Really? Been waiting for dual monitor support on the air or a MacBook pro redesign. Hope it is true!

i hated my 15” laptop and have done exclusively 13” since. i find 15” to be really cumbersome to transport and especially as a woman (smaller backpacks) i struggle to find backpacks that fit it and adequately protect it.

It was not these models admittedly, it was like 6 years ago, but i just recently purchased an M2 air and compared these in the store and still felt the same about the 15”. Maybe i’d feel differently if i was someone dealing with code or something, but I’m not.

Was it the Touch Bar/usb-c only 15 or the previous retina 15” (or the even older 15” with the disc drive)? The 15” air is about the same size as the Touch Bar 15” pro. The older retina 15” is about the same size as the current 16” (which is a lot bigger than the 15” air, a lot more so than it sounds). The unibody and older 15” is a lot bigger than anything Apple currently sells.

If you were primarily using the laptop as a laptop, I’d definitely say the 15”. However if it’ll be plugged into a monitor most of the time, the 13” may be better with the higher RAM and better portability.

IMO laptops should be by design portable and 13" is just a perfect size IMO. To work comfortably I still want to have a 30"+ monitor and a physical keyboard.

As a student I can say that 13" will fit into a lot more backpacks and is easier to use on-the-go

I’ve been fighting with this idea. Keep my intel MBA for travel and get a mini for my office.
