I’ve been reading this sub since the Deck started shipping. I’ve seen the various crying about the Ally and the OLED Deck. But I’ve still held true that the Steam Deck fanbase is different to - and by different to, I mean better than - the cretinous teenagers that make up most gaming comment sections.

This post, and a lot of the comments, have swayed me from that notion. They’re every bit as idiotic as any Sony, Xbox or “PC Master Race” fanboy shitting up the internet.

However, it’s good to see that for every moron, there seem to be several more reasonable adults. So on the whole, while this post has lowered my opinion of the Deck base on the bottom end, it has reinforced that for the most part, we’re a more decent group than most gaming “factions.”

  • Soulslike - I don’t think my reflexes are good enough for incredibly difficult boss fights

Roguelike - I don’t really know what it is but it seems to involve a lot of repetition and doesn’t appeal to me. Open to my mind being changed by the right game but nothing has persuaded me yet

    Roguelite - see above

FPS - was never good at them even in the original Doom days and just couldn’t get into them in any generation. Goldeneye, Halo, COD, just never got into them.

Whatever genre all those shitty NES-graphics overhead shooters are… I think of them as “_______ Survivor” because Vampire Survivor is the most successful example I know of

RTS - possibly related to the FPS thing, war games just never really did it for me

RTS RPGs - the worst part of RPGs is turn based battles, so this I would never

Card battlers - this applies to any game where the gameplay is based around cards, I think. Not very into card games in real life, even less so in videogames

    Tower defence - basically RTS
