I made this exact mistake when the Switch OLED came out. I got caught up in hype, I bought the new one, and slowly it dawned on me that I just spent 300 extra dollars for exactly the same machine I already had, and a screen that, as good as it was, was NOT worth that 300 dollars.

If you don’t own a Steam deck, then go nuts! Do what you want.

If you already own a Steam Deck, you already own everything you actually wanted a Steam deck for. An OLED screen is not going to make the games you already play somehow magically better. You’re fine. Chill out

For those of us who don’t already have a Steam deck and want one, is it worth the extra £90 to get the OLED instead of the LCD model?

Don’t let this guy fool you, Oled it’s worth it even if you already had the old model, just sell the old one and get the Oled, Oled display is another league even compared to the great LCD displays like the one on Legion Go or Ally, and the Deck LCD is instead a mediocre one. It really makes games look way better, especially since it also has HDR 1000nits support. plus you will get way better battery life, slightly better gaming performance and better wifi connection, which sucks on older Deck
